According to sources from Paper Sport, coach Nagelsmann is at the top of the list of candidates that INEOS wants to replace Ten Hag. The German coach is currently leading the German national team and will guide them in the upcoming European Championship campaign in his home country this summer.

Ten Hag’s team has been eliminated from the top club competition in Europe, the UEFA Champions League, in the group stage of this season. Their defense of the Carabao Cup title also ended in the round of 16, while the players’ form at Old Trafford has experienced several fluctuations.

The new owners of Manchester United have made an interesting move by seeking the opinion of former Red Devils player Marcel Sabitzer regarding coach Nagelsmann. The Austrian midfielder has spent a significant portion of his club career under Nagelsmann’s guidance at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. Sabitzer has made 137 appearances under Nagelsmann, scoring 27 goals and providing 20 assists.

Sabitzer won two Bundesliga titles with Bayern under the German coach in 2022 and 2023. However, his most successful period with Nagelsmann occurred at Leipzig. And it is Sabitzer who becomes a “specialist” for Manchester United as he shares insights about Nagelsmann’s coaching methods: “He has a unique perspective on football. Nagelsmann is very detailed in his approach to situations on the field. He shows us very clearly the specific cases through video analysis and tells us what needs to be done.”

At just 36 years old, Nagelsmann helped Bayern achieve 60 victories in 84 matches during his time at Allianz Arena. He led the German giants in a battle for the Bundesliga, Champions League, and domestic cup titles before being sacked. Former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel replaced Nagelsmann, but Bayern has yet to overcome their difficulties. Currently, Bayern has been eliminated from the Champions League and the domestic cup in the quarterfinals, leaving only the Bundesliga title to compete for.

The new owners of Manchester United, led by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are eager to have a new coach to replace Ten Hag. The job at Old Trafford is considered suitable for Nagelsmann because he has experience with top clubs like Bayern and Leipzig, as well as the German national team.
