With a comfortable 15-point lead over the second-placed team, PSG welcomed Clermont to the Parc des Princes with coach Luis Enrique continuing to keep forward Mbappe on the bench in order to familiarize the team with a lineup that does not include the French star since this summer.
The Parisian team started strongly and created significant attacking pressure against the visiting team. They generated a series of chances but unfortunately squandered them.
Unable to find the back of the net, the home team conceded a goal in an unlucky manner due to a defensive mistake in the 32nd minute. Ugarte’s attempted clearance helped Keita score against goalkeeper Donnarumma. In the 45th minute, young talent Mayulu found the net against Ndiaye with a shot from outside the box. However, the goal was disallowed after VAR confirmed a preceding foul by the home team.
In the second half, PSG pushed forward in search of an equalizer, and their strength increased even more when Mbappe was brought onto the field. The value of the French forward was demonstrated as he provided an assist for Goncalo Ramos to score the equalizer, making it 1-1 in the 85th minute.
Despite the home draw against Clermont, PSG’s position at the top of the table remаins secure, with a 13-point advantage over second-placed Brest, with only six rounds left in Ligue 1. PSG’s unbeaten streak extends to 27 consecutive matches.
Following this match, Luis Enrique’s squad will focus on preparing for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals against Barcelona on April 11th.
