The 21-year-old Warrington center back Jarell Quansah has explained why he chose Liverpool over Manchester United and Manchester City, two fierce rivals in the Premier League. After an unexpecteԀ breakout season under Jurgen Klopp’s direction, Quansah’s strong preseason play won him a key role at Liverpool following a loan spell at Bristol Rovers.
With 23 appearances in a variety of competitions, he has particularly forged a strong defensive duo with Virgil van Dijk, exhibiting his ability and potential on a major platform as Liverpool looks to win the Premier League.
“Coming into the season, it was more about the opportunity to train with the best players in the world and learn from them,” Quansah stated in an interview with The Athletic regarding his ascent.
“I probably thought the plan would be to go out on loan again last summer,” he continued. But I told myself that I had to give it my all and prove my abilities when I joined the first team for preseason.
Thank goodness I was able to do it and continue. Football has already taught me that it’s a crаzy game where anything may happen.
“I explored various locations to see what was available,” he continued. “I completed all of them: City, Manchester United, Wigan, and Bolton.
“I was just having fun and enjoying myself back then. I was happy to play football whenever I got to. More options, in my parents’ opinion, would be preferable.
“I simply recall Liverpool providing the best instruction.” I stayed because it was where I felt most like playing football.”
