CONTRAST EMOTION: Hojlund celebrates fiercely, while his teammates are too embarrassed to respond after defeating Coventry City

MANCHESTER UNITED fans believe their players were too “ashamed” to celebrate after reaching the FA Cup final.

The Red Devils had to rely on penalties to defeat Coventry City after blowing a 3-0 lead in the final 20 minutes at Wembley Stadium.

Rasmus Hojlund secured Manchester United’s place in the FA Cup final with the winning penalty.

He went away to rejoice with the Manchester United supporters.

As he returned to his teammates, only Christian Eriksen appeared to join him in joy.

United looked comfortable for the majority of the game, but three late Coventry goals from Ellis Simms, Callum O’Hare, and Haji Wright undid their efforts.

Erik ten Hag’s FA Cup hopes were almost dashed in extra time when Victor Torp’s 121st-minute winner was ruled out by VAR because the tip of his toe was deemed offside.

The penalty shootout provided Manchester United with an opportunity to save their own blushes, which they did when Rasmus Hojlund converted his spot shot, setting up a Manchester derby FA Cup final.

Manchester United players were too ashamed to celebrate their penalty triumph.  Hojlund looked around and noticed none of his teammates behind him.

However, United fans believe the players were too humiliated by how they won to celebrate properly, as only one star reeled away with Hojlund to celebrate his 12-yard winner.

The Dane was clearly ecstatic as he celebrated the moment with United’s travelling fans, but video footage of the celebrations looked to show only compatriot Christian Eriksen joining him in the excitement.

Other celebrities were more reserved in their joy, and fans online undoubtedly noted the unexpected reaction.

Someone else asked: “Why on earth has only Eriksen gone over to celebrate with Hojlund????”

Another said, “Kinda sad that nobody ran over to Hojlund there.”

A third commented, “United players are too ashamed to celebrate .” Hojlund turned around and saw no one behind him. “I’m finished.”

A fourth joked, “I was crying at that. .” He assumed the entire team was running to him, but it was just Eriksen.”

After booking a return to play under the famed arch in May, fans weren’t the only ones who believed Ten Hag and his band were standoffish.

Former Manchester United icon Roy Keane attacked the team on ITV Sport, calling them “embarrassed” to win.

The veteran midfielder stated: “I believe the United players and supporters were not overly enthusiastic in their celebrations.

“Because they recognize that they were extremely fortunate today. They won the game 3-0 and were nearly embarrassed to win in the end.”

He went on to say, “Every time I see this United team, I dislike what I see.

“They are difficult to like and only play when necessary.

“We keep talking about leadership and character, and I don’t see any of those in the United group.

“When you’re 3-0 up, team management doesn’t give a Championship team hope to come back in the game.”

“But that’s what they do: they give up chances and goals.

“We’ve seen it all season so I don’t know why we’re that surprised, but my goodness they rode their luck in the end.”

Manchester United will compete in this season’s FA Cup final, regardless of their victory celebrations or techniques.

The Red Devils will face their raucous neighbors City in a replay of last year’s championship game, hoping to use some hardware to make up for yet another disappointing season.
