Manchester United fans believe they have found their first summer signing when Juventus player Weston McKennie updated his Facebook profile photo.
The 25-year-old American is about to approach the final 12 months of his contract this summer after four years in Italy.
On Friday, he appeared to drop a huge signal regarding a move away from Juventus with some weird social media behavior.
McKennie’s official Facebook page altered its profile picture to a photo of him wearing a Manchester United shirt.
It was accompanied with a simple caption: “I’m here!”
This caused many Manchester United fans to believe he will arrive at Old Trafford in the coming months, nearly two years after he was first connected with the transfer.
One said: “I believe United were linked with him on a specific deadline day!… Must have took the image and thought it would work out lol.”
Another commented, “He adores this club.”
A third responded, “Won’t be a bad signing, tbh.”
While a fourth said, “He’s coming.”
A fifth said, “🤣🤣🤣” If true, it would imply that we desire to eventually replace Fred.”
McKennie has 13 goals and 15 assists in 131 games for Juventus since moving from Schalke.
He appeared 20 times on loan at Leeds during the second half of the season, but was unable to assist them avoid relegation.
Manchester United are planning a “sell-to-buy” transfer strategy in the summer window, as new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to oversee the club’s football operations.
It is reported that they will consider offers for everyone but three members of the squad.
