Manchester City’s victory over Fulham means that Liverpool no longer has a chance to win the Premier League title this season. Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Liverpool will certainly not end with another Premier League championship. Their hopes of clinching the title had essentially diminished long ago but were officially extinguished by Manchester City’s 4-0 triumph over Fulham.
The win propelled the reigning champions to the top of the table with 85 points. Liverpool, trailing by 7 points with only 2 matches remaining, cannot catch up to Manchester City even if they win their remaining fixtures against Aston Villa and Wolves.
Manchester City’s resounding victory also puts pressure back on Arsenal, who will face them on Sunday at Old Trafford. A win for the Gunners against Manchester United would propel Mikel Arteta’s team back to the top.
However, the title race still lies in Manchester City’s hands as they have played one game less. They will face Tottenham in a crucial clash next week. If Manchester City secures the title, they will become the first team in the Premier League to win it four times in a row.
