Paul Merson says Manchester United were simply too bad to overcome Arsenal in their Premier League match earlier today.
The Gunners were expecting a tough encounter against Manchester City’s neighbors, and the home team was sure to have some of the blue half of the city rooting for them.
Surprisingly, Arsenal did not perform at their typical level in a game that everyone expected them to win. Nonetheless, they completed the task, and they most likely received assistance from United.
The Red Devils have suffered numerous injuries, and several key players missed the game.
Despite having enough men on the field to worry Arsenal, Erik Ten Hag’s team never looked good enough.
United players were all over the place as Arsenal gained a well-deserved victory, and Merson told Sky Sports:
“I thought they (Arsenal) played in second gear. I’m quite dissatisfied with Manchester United; I don’t think they did enough.
“To be honest, Arsenal will never play an easier game than that. It was too simple, and they played poorly.
“I didn’t believe they [Arsenal] controlled the game. Man United had enough of the ball around the box – if they had that final pass, or Garnacho had raised his head a couple times or picked the proper pass, but they ran out of options.”
Just Arsenal Opinion
The victory was far from simple, but United gave Arsenal little to worry about throughout the game.
