Fernandes, 29, has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent days, as the Red Devils prepare to miss out on Champions League action next season.
United may be obliged to sell to raise finances for a big squad makeover in the summer while remaining compliant with Premier League financial sustainability criteria.
“I will be here as long as the club wants me, and the club wants me to be a part of the future,” said Fernandes, whose contract runs until 2026.
“If for some reason they don’t want me, then I will go.”
Fernandes contributed to United’s 3-2 win over Newcastle on Wednesday, keeping their hopes of qualifying for Europe via the Premier League alive.
Erik ten Hag’s team is still eighth in the table, but if they beat Newcastle on the final day of the season, they might move up to seventh place.
On Sunday, United will visit Brighton, while Newcastle will travel to Brentford.
“This has been a challenging season. “The table shows that, and we are all aware of it,” Fernandes said.
“The supporters have been incredible for us, and we needed to do something.
“We have tried, but the outcomes do not reflect that. We’ve been working hard, and everyone has done their best, but it’s not enough; we need to do more.”
Even if United fails to finish in the top seven for the first time in Premier League history, they will have another chance to qualify for Europe if they defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25.
Ten Hag, who is under siege, really needs a second trophy in two years to clear his name for next season.
The Dutchman took the microphone at full-time following United’s final home game of the season to thank the fans for their support despite a challenging season.
“As you know it wasn’t an easy season, but one thing remained constant and that was the backing of you for the team,” Ten Hag added.
“The season is not over yet. First, we head to Brighton for three points, followed by Wembley. I promise you that those players will give their all to win the cup and bring it to Old Trafford.
