Kylian Mbappe has announced his departure from PSG after the conclusion of the 2023/24 season. While the player himself has not confirmed his destination, international transfer sources unanimously assert that Mbappe will join Real Madrid.

Currently, Mbappe is the highest-earning player in Europe. According to The Athletic, he costs PSG approximately 200 million euros per year, including salary and bonuses.

However, if he moves to Real Madrid, Mbappe’s income will significantly decrease. He is expected to sign a five-year contract with Real Madrid worth a total of 225 million euros. His salary at Bernabeu will be around 15 million euros per season, equivalent to the highest-earning players Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.

In addition, Mbappe will receive a signing bonus of 150 million euros, which Real Madrid will pay over the course of the contract. Thus, in order to fulfill his dream of playing for Real Madrid, Mbappe will have to sacrifice significant financial benefits. In the 2023/24 season, he will even forgo loyalty bonuses of up to 80 million euros, aiming to support PSG in affording a replacement.

However, the farewell between Mbappe and PSG is not happening smoothly. The relationship between the French forward and PSG Chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi has broken down due to a speech-related issue.

Al Khelaifi was angered when Mbappe did not mention him in a farewell video for the club, leading to an argument that potentially escalated into a physical altercation shortly before the match against Toulouse a few days ago.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Mbappe will be announced as a Real Madrid player right after the Champions League final. The Bernabeu club will not have to pay a transfer fee for the world’s top attacking star. According to Transfermarkt, Mbappe is currently valued at 180 million euros.
