Manchester United star Casemiro shone in Sunday’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Red Devils finished their top-flight season on a good note with a win at the Amex Stadium.

However, it was insufficient to earn Conference League football, as seventh-placed Newcastle United defeated Brentford 4-2.

United must now defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup final to qualify for the Europa League.

Meanwhile, looking back at the Brighton game, there were some positives to take ahead. One of these was Casemiro’s excellent performance at the back.

The Brazilian began in center defence alongside Lisandro Martinez against the Seagulls. He had a good game, with 81 touches and a 90% pass accuracy.

Casemiro won seven ground duels and six tackles, made five clearances, and blocked as many shots. He made an important clearance from the line early in the second half.

Prior to the game, the 32-year-old described the criticism he has received this season as ‘disrespectful’. He delivered the ideal response with a standout performance for United.

Despite this, we do not expect him to start in the heart of the defence in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Raphael Varane made a 28-minute appearance following his return from injury. We expect the Frenchman to join Martinez in central defence at Wembley Stadium.

Casemiro should still make the starting lineup. He should return to his usual number six role ahead of Sofyan Amrabat, who had a dismal performance at Brighton.

The Moroccan appeared agitated in the face of the Seagulls’ relentless pressure. We would be amazed if he makes the starting lineup for the Manchester Derby.
