REPORT: Man United eyeing £85.6m striking duo who have scored 53 goals in the Portuguese league combine

Manchester United ended their miserable Premier League season with a win, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from placing eighth, their worst position since the tournament began.

Goalscoring has been a big issue throughout, with the Red Devils scoring the joint-fewest goals among the top ten teams in the league.

Despite a terrible rookie season in which he was overworked beyond belief, Rasmus Hojlund finished as the top scorer with 16 goals, but he still needs time to adapt and learn how to be an effective striker in the physically demanding Premier League.

Anthony Martial is poised to go, and Marcus Rashford has been a shadow of his former self this season, raising questions about his future.

Erik ten Hag had always wanted a striker to help lighten the strain on the young Dane, but the Glazers refused to help, even in January. However, new co-owners INEOS are expected to fix the issue this summer.

According to Jornal de Noticias, the 20-time English league champions are interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres and Evanilson to help them improve their front line.

The Swede was the best goalscorer in the Portuguese league, with 29 to his name, as he helped Sporting CP win the title under Ruben Amorim.

The former Brighton player has scored 43 goals in all competitions and has an £85.6 million release clause. He is currently in high demand, and all of Europe’s elites are keeping a watchful eye on his future.

Evanilson is the entire package

The Brazilian also had a successful season, scoring 24 goals in all competitions and assisting six times, and Porto will demand the same sum to release the 24-year-old.

Chelsea and Tottenham have expressed interest, but his hefty release clause means a deal will be difficult to complete.

The 24-year-old is a smart passer who excels at link-up play, which United have lacked this season. His addition would bring a new dimension to United’s forward play.

However, with budgets limited and INEOS preferring players with Premier League experience, it remains to be seen whether either of the aforementioned trio ends up in Manchester this summer.
