According to Confidential, Manchester United are looking at signing Crystal Palace’s £65 million-rated centre back Marc Guehi.
Guehi is regarded as a potential target for the left side of central defence to Jarrad Branthwaite if United are unable to persuade Everton to sell with a bid of around £55 million.
They have been interested in Guehi since last summer and have kept an eye on the 23-year-old English defender’s position at Palace. United still have a significant interest in Branthwaite, but they want to leave their options open in case Everton play hardball on the money.
They are set to sign two centre backs this summer, with Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo both being considered for the right side of defence. Todibo would cost roughly £40 million, while Adarabioyo is available on a free transfer and is receiving interest from Newcastle.
United’s budget for the summer is little more than £35 million, but new co-owners Ineos plan to raise significantly more by selling off some of its stars and are also willing to provide player swaps.
