Manchester United’s players have had their suits fitted before the FA Cup final this weekend.
Erik ten Hag’s side will meet arch-rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the final, with the Red Devils looking to cap off a challenging season on a high note.
A victory will also secure European football for the Red Devils, who finished seventh in the Premier League.
United’s stars will also look smart on their arrival in London, as the club published photographs of the group in freshly designed suits.
The clothes, designed by Paul Smith, are estimated to be worth £1,000.
Diogo Dalot, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Lisandro Martinez, Amad Diallo, Mason Mount, and Victor Lindelof were spotted trying on their new outfits.
United, who lost to City in the FA Cup final last year, did a same approach, with Paul Smith also designing the outfits.
Suit fittings for FA Cup finals have long been a tradition in English football, but they don’t always take place.
However, the most well-known incident involving them occurred prior to United’s 1996 FA Cup final versus Liverpool.
However, it was their opponents that captured the headlines, as the Reds’ squad, nicknamed ‘the Spice Boys,’ showed up in cream-colored Armani suits, outrageous striped ties, and white Gucci shoes.
United went on to win the final 1-0 courtesy to a late Eric Cantona goal, and it’s fair to say Sir Alex Ferguson was unimpressed with his opponents on the day.
‘It was outrageous. ‘Absolutely absurd,’ Fergie said in a BBC documentary in 2015.
