Girona shows little mercy to 10-man Granada in La Liga.
Artem Dovbyk scored three goals as Girona drew to within a point of Barcelona with a 7-0 victory over demoted 10-man Granada.
On Friday, Eric Garcia gave the home team the lead on the half-hour mark, and Viktor Tsygankov extended their lead three minutes later.
Dovbyk’s penalty a minute before halftime increased the lead, and Tsygankov scored again nine minutes into the second half, making it 4-0.
Facundo Pellistri’s ejection in the 61st minute exacerbated the visitors’ difficulties, and two more goals from Dovbyk, the second from the penalty spot, each side of replacement Cristhian Stuani’s strike only added salt to the wound.
Granada finished second-to-last in La Liga, with four wins and nine draws for 21 points from 38 games.
Barcelona has secured second place, but will be without coach Xavi next season after it was revealed that he will be released of his duties following the season’s final match against Sevilla.
