Manchester United’s interest in acquiring RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo has intensified, as reported by the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo 

The Red Devils are poised to revamp their squad this summer, with securing a new attacking player being among their priorities for the upcoming season.

Olmo has been linked with United for several years, and Mundo Deportivo suggests that the club has initiated efforts to secure his services in the current transfer window.

The Spanish international currently has a release clause valued at €60 million (£51m) in his contract, which remains valid until mid-July.

Despite Olmo’s solid performance during the 2023/24 campaign with Leipzig, where he tallied eight goals and five assists in 25 appearances from wide attacking positions, we advocate against United pursuing him.

Despite his versatility to operate in various attacking roles, including as a number 10 or false nine, Olmo’s injury-prone history raises concerns. He missed a significant number of games for both club and country during the past season, adding to his injury struggles in previous campaigns.

Given United’s existing injury concerns, pursuing Olmo would be unwise. Despite his commendable attributes such as high pressing and chance creation, the risk associated with his fitness issues and the substantial financial investment required make him a risky signing for the club.
