Ali Ahmed got the tech signed by Sir Alex Ferguson and also got a selfie with the former Man U boss

Ali Ahmed’s parents purchased it when he was three years old in 1996 and stored it in perfect condition for future collectors.

He made it his mission to get the iconic United manager’s name on it, and he took advantage when Sir Alex paid a visit to the pharmacy where he works in January.

Ali replied, “I can’t believe it. It is like a dream come true.

“I only decided to try to get it signed a few months ago after another Game Boy collector made a joke about it online.

“I believed it was an impossible feat, but I had faith that I could do it someday.

“Three weeks later, who do I see going past my workplace? Sir Alex Ferguson himself!

“It was a weird experience. I rushed over and told him it was an honor to meet him.

“He was quite friendly and agreed to sign the Game Boy and even pose for a selfie.

“He said, ‘It’s good to meet you, mate. See you around.

“I get goosebumps just thinking about it.”

He received a £30,000 offer from Japan for the Nintendo console, which costs £60.

Yet Ali stated: “I’m keeping it, it’s like the Holy Grail of my game collection.”

Ali, who also has a £40,000 collection of about 1,000 games, received a torrent of encouragement from United supporters after posting his achievement on a Game Boy collector’s page.
