The seven players who will not be available are Grealish, Maguire, James Maddison, Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah, James Trafford, and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney will be accompanying captain Harry Kane on the plane to Germany, which is wonderful news for them as it means Southgate will be taking three strikers.

Adam Wharton, a midfielder for Crystal Palace who made his England debut against Bosnia on Monday night, will also be included in the 26-man roster.

Grealish, who had an impact as a replacement in the triumph over Bosnia after connecting with England early, was reportedly taken aback by the news that he would not be in the starting lineup.

Even though Grealish’s Manchester City team was having a rough season, his exclusion surprised both the England team and the outside world. An elite Premier League sporting director reached out to Telegraph Sport with the following question: “How is it possible for the England manager to bench a player who can have such a significant impact? Absurd.

Maguire is heartbroken that he was unable to join the 26-man roster after suffering a calf injury.

“I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer,” Maguire wrote in an Instagram post.

“I have tried everything to get over my calf problem, but I have not been able to conquer it. Perhaps I overexerted myself in an attempt to succeed. I am just really devastated.

Three players, Lewis Dunk, Luke Shaw, and Maguire, did not train with the rest of the team on Thursday in preparation for the team’s last warm-up match against Iceland on Friday night.

However, Shaw and Dunk—along with Joe Gomez and Ezri Konsa of Aston Villa—are expected to be included in Southgate’s 26-man roster.
