Harry Maguire has revealed he won’t be joining the England national team for Euro 2024 due to an ongoing ankle injury.

Maguire, often a fixture in England’s international squad under manager Gareth Southgate, will experience his first absence from the squad of 26 players set to compete in Euro 2024 in Germany starting from June 15. Taking to social media to express his disappointment about missing out on Euro 2024 with the England squad, Harry Maguire wrote: “I’m deeply disappointed not to be selected to play for the England national team at this summer’s Euro. Despite my best efforts, I haven’t been able to recover from the ankle injury.Harry Maguire will not feature for England this summer

“I may have pushed too hard to be fit for this tournament. And ultimately, I’m truly gutted. Representing England is the highest honor for me.

“It means everything to me. If I can’t contribute on the field as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the nation. Carry on and bring it home, my teammates.

Harry Maguire updated on his Facebook:”I am devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer.

Despite my best efforts, I have not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. If I can’t help the team as a player, I will support them as a fan – along with the rest of the country. Harry Maguire previously participated in three recent major international tournaments with the England national team, starting from the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He then featured in Euro 2020 as England reached the final on home soil, as well as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In addition to Harry Maguire, other players omitted from the England squad for Euro 2024 by manager Gareth Southgate include Jack Grealish, James Maddison, Curtis Jones, James Trafford, Jarell Quansah, and Jarrad Branthwaite.
