The Athletic reports that Real Madrid is planning to sell young forward Alvaro Rodriguez following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.
After a prolonged pursuit, Real Madrid has finally successfully acquired Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer. Mbappe’s presence strengthens Los Blancos’ attacking prowess.
However, with Mbappe’s arrival, the opportunities for young talents at Real Madrid are expected to decrease. Alvaro Rodriguez has become the first “victim” of the French superstar.
In the 2022-23 season, Alvaro Rodriguez made an impression in Real Madrid’s first team after being promoted from Castilla. The Uruguayan forward scored against Atletico Madrid and impressed head coach Carlo Ancelotti with his overall performance. However, this was not enough for the 19-year-old to secure a spot in Real’s squad for the 2023-24 season.
Now, The Athletic reports that Rodriguez will be sold in the summer of 2024. Real Madrid is not considering a loan deal, as they intend to sell him with a buy-back clause set at 50% of his value – a strategy they have frequently employed in recent years.
Several clubs in La Liga and Segunda are keeping an eye on Rodriguez. The young Uruguayan talent also wants to leave to ensure regular playing time. Meanwhile, Real Madrid still wants to retain some control over Rodriguez’s future, as they believe he is a promising player.
