Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently engaged in discussions with Thomas Tuchel regarding the possibility of Tuchel taking over as Manchester United’s manager, potentially replacing Erik ten Hag. However, Ratcliffe has decided against pursuing the job himself.

During their meeting in Monaco, Tuchel shared his vision for United with Ratcliffe. However, it seems Tuchel perceived that Ratcliffe was not inclined to offer him the position, leading Tuchel to withdraw from consideration.

The ongoing review of United’s season, which will determine Ten Hag’s future, has now entered its third week. The club has not set a specific timeline for concluding this review.

In addition to Tuchel, other candidates being considered to replace Ten Hag include Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi, both currently without employment, as well as Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, and England’s Gareth Southgate. However, any potential move for Southgate would need to wait until after England’s Euro 2024 campaign, which begins on Sunday against Serbia and could extend until the final on 14 July.
