Manchester United fans will be looking to bolster their team’s pursuit of midfielder Joao Neves by bringing in their own Portuguese players.

United intend to improve Eirk ten Hag’s midfield this summer, with Casemiro likely to depart. Neves has long been linked with a move to Manchester after impressing for Benfica in Portugal.

The 19-year-old central midfielder is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising prospects, with Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool also interested. United supporters, on the other hand, will be hopeful that their club can take advantage of any connections.Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes are both part of Portugal’s Euro 2024 squad. The focus will undoubtedly be on the tournament, but the United duo might help their club make a major summer signing.

On Saturday, as Roberto Martinez’s team prepared for their opener against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, a video of Fernandes and Neves playing basketball with a football appeared on social media.

After looping the ball into the ring, the Benfica midfielder turned to Fernandes, who was on the phone, and mimicked the United star’s celebration by placing his hands to his ears. The video has been circulated on a number of United fan channels on X, formerly Twitter, prompting speculation that Neves is on his way to Old Trafford to join Fernandes.

“I don’t know if (the) Man Utd rumours are true, but I know he is ready for that big jump,” Fernandes remarked of his compatriot earlier this year. “He is an exceptional player and a member of the national team. That’s also why the top teams want him.
