Memphis Depay has a simple yet defiant statement on his customized headband.

Depay first wore the headband during the Netherlands’ friendly matches against Canada and Iceland leading up to Euro 2024. He continued to sport the distinctive accessory in their Euro opener against Poland on Sunday.

Despite facing criticism from Dutch media regarding his attire, the former Manchester United player explained that he chose to wear the headband because it helps him manage sweat, and he mentioned that his girlfriend approves of it. Reflecting on the controversy, Depay commented after the Iceland game, “Who cares? It looks good on me, it helps me sweat, and my girlfriend likes it. Isn’t that great?”

Inspired by his bullish response to the criticism, Depay decided to feature the words ‘who cares’ on his headband. A photo of Depay wearing the headband with this message during the Netherlands’ match against Poland circulated online.

Ronald Koeman’s team will continue their Euro 2024 journey next Friday against France, a team widely considered among the favorites for the tournament.
