Before Kylian Mbappe suffered a nasal injury and will miss the upcoming match against the Netherlands, Didier Deschamps shared his thoughts with the media on this matter.

Specifically, the French coach affirmed that France’s most valuable star does not need surgery to continue participating in Euro 2024. However, he expressed concerns for the Real Madrid newcomer’s future.

Coach Didier Deschamps confided, “Tomorrow there will be more tests to evaluate his condition. The doctors have done everything to help Mbappe feel as comfortable as possible. Even if surgery doesn’t happen immediately, he still needs medical care.”

“Today, Kylian Mbappe looks healthier, and we will continue to monitor his recovery process day by day.”

Mbappe suffered a broken nose in a collision with Kevin Danso of the Austrian national team in the EURO 2024 opener on June 17. Initially, German doctors advised the 1998-born forward to undergo surgery. However, Mbappe and the French team doctors postponed this option at least until the end of the tournament because he would be unable to continue playing in EURO if he chose surgical treatment for the injury.

Given this situation, Coach Didier Deschamps has decided to rest Mbappe for the second match against the Netherlands on June 21 and possibly for the final group stage match against Poland on June 25. If he returns for the round of 16, Mbappe will likely need to wear a protective mask to shield his nose.
