NON-STOP: Man Utd have made offer to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana

Manchester United has made an offer to buy Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Red Devils are looking for a new defensive midfielder and have recently been connected with West Ham United’s Edson Alvarez.

Alvarez had a fantastic debut season for the Hammers following his move from Ajax, but a hamstring injury sustained last night could jeopardize United’s aspirations.

Despite this, Mundo Deportivo reports today that United has offered €55 million (£46.5 million) up front with €5 million (£4.2 million) in add-ons to sign Onana.

Barcelona has also expressed an interest, but the Catalan club cannot afford to recruit him until they recuperate monies from certain exits.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also expressed interest in the former Lille player, whom manager Roberto Martinez regarded as a’really dynamic’ footballer.

Onana may be a nice signing for United.

Casemiro had a rough second season with the Red Devils. During the latter part of last season, he endured a number of injuries and struggled to rediscover form and consistency.

The Brazilian was guilty of losing possession 12 times on average. He was dribbled past more than twice a game and was frequently caught out of position.

United certainly need an upgrade on Casemiro, who appears to be past his prime. Onana might be the solution.

Last term, the Belgian won an astonishing 66 percent of his duels and 74% of his aerial challenges. He won 2.4 tackles per game and had more than five ball recoveries.

The 22-year-old only lost possession 6.8 times on average. He was very challenging to dribble past (0.7 per game). Onana would be an excellent successor to Casemiro.

The main question is if United made an offer or if the rumor is fueled by the agents. Onana is the most valuable player for his agency, BTFM, and he could be looking for a hefty commission.
