Uruguay defeated Bolivia 5-0 to secure their spot in the Copa America quarterfinal round, with two goals in the first half being the difference. A header from close range by Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri opened the score.
In the twenty-first minute, Darwin Nunez scored his second goal, which ultimately decided the match. The team led by Marcelo Bielsa dominated every aspect of the match, and things started to pick up late.
The score was three when Mаxi Araujo scored in the 76th minute under a charging Bolivian custodian, but they weren’t done yet.
Superstar Federico Valverde of Real Madrid scored a fourth goal five minutes later to eliminate Bolivia from the game. The icing on the cake was Rodrigo Bentancur’s header of Giorgian De Arrascaeta’s exquisite pass in the 89th minute.
The Copa América has been won by Uruguay 15 times. After Luis Suarez opened the lead in the eleventh minute, Diego Forlan scored twice to win them their most recent Copa title in 2011.
Their star striker was on fire once more. Nunez, who has scored in seven straight games, dominated the last third of Uruguay’s second Copa America match.
As he looks to lead La Celeste to victory, he has already scored two goals, solidifying his status as a candidate for the Copa America Golden Boot.
As we approach the third matchday, La Verde is in dаnger of losing. Monday’s match against Panama must be won handily. To go to the knockout stage, they will need La Celeste to perform better than the USMNT and to make up for their goal differential.
To wrap up the group stage, Uruguay will play the Me𝚗’s National Team of the United States on Monday. In a must-win situation for the US, Nunez and his group will try to finish in the top three.
