La Celeste defeated the United States in a close game with a goal from left back Mathías Olivera, eliminating them from the competition.

The South Americans had 12 shots to eight and somewhat better possession, with 50.3% of the ball in an equal match.

United winger Pellistri continued his impressive tournament with a Sofascore rating of 7.1.

The winger got 25 touches in the game and completed all 12 passes.

He made one vital pass in the game and completed 100% of his long balls.

The 22-year-old was also a threat, with one shot on goal and one off target throughout the game, and he completed one of his two dribbling efforts.

The winger also performed admirably defensively for his team, winning four of seven ground duels and completing two tackles.

Pellistri, on the other hand, was a touch wasteful with the ball, throwing it away six times, which he will have to improve on in the quarterfinals on Saturday night (Sunday early UK time).

United fans will also be paying particular attention to the play of Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain, who is apparently on his way to Old Trafford as the teams negotiate a deal.

The defensive midfielder scored an amazing 7.8 on Sofascore, winning 100% of his seven ground duels and demonstrating the fighting spirit he hopes to bring to the team if the transfer is confirmed.

He also made three clearances and four tackles, completing 77% of his passes that night.

The Uruguayans will learn their opponents for the next round after today’s group games are completed, but as things stand, it looks like it will be a thrilling match against Brazil, who are presently second in group D, two points behind Colombia.
