TRANSFER NEWS: Manchester United Eyes AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders as Top Transfer Target

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s head coach, has reportedly named Tijjani Reijnders, an AC Milan midfield stalwart, as a top transfer target for the next summer window.

Ten Hag has taken note of the 25-year-old Dutch midfielder’s excellent displays at San Siro since his £16.3 million arrival from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.

Tijjani Reijnders has had a huge influence in Serie A this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in 24 appearances.

His versatility, midfield ability, and consistent performances have earned him a berth on the Netherlands national team, where he appeared six times last year, starting three Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Despite Reijnders’ contract with AC Milan continuing until the conclusion of the 2027-28 season, Manchester United are apparently unfazed and eager to pursue the midfielder, even at a high price of €60 million (£51.4 million). Paris Saint-Germain has also expressed an interest in signing Reijnders.

Manchester United’s midfield has recently added Mason Mount from Chelsea and Sofyan Amrabat on loan from Fiorentina.

Mount, on the other hand, has struggled with injuries, and Amrabat has found it tough to adjust to the Premier League. The team is trying to improve its midfield options, with Reijnders surfacing as a possible candidate.

As Manchester United prepares for potential leadership changes, such as the appointment of INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the potential arrival of Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth as sporting director, the pursuit of Reijnders demonstrates the club’s desire to strengthen its squad ahead of the 2024-25 season.
