Mason Greenwood has been spotted practicing with former Manchester United teammate Shola Shoretire, as club administrators consider his future.

After finishing his loan at Spanish club Getafe, the forward has returned to the United Kingdom. Numerous clubs have expressed interest in signing him, but a transfer has yet to occur.

Greenwood, 22, was cleared of charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour, and assault resulting in actual bodily harm by the Crown Prosecution Service in February. He has been staying fit with fellow academy product Shoretire. According to the Mirror, Greenwood was seen wearing a Jamaican national team shirt and orange footwear, while Shoretire was dressed in a tracksuit.

Shoretire, 20, who departed United earlier this summer after his contract expired, was previously the club’s youngest-ever player in Europe. He’s currently without a club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, United’s new minority owner, hinted that decisions about Greenwood would be made soon. Earlier this year, he said: “We will make a decision, correct. All I can do is explain the idea behind how we would handle such issues. Is he the proper type of footballer, and are we satisfied with whether he is a nice guy or not?

“He’s a Manchester United player, so we’re in charge of football.” So the answer is ‘Yeah, we have to make decisions.’ It’s evident that we need to make a decision. No decision has been taken.

“He’s definitely on loan, but he’s not alone. We have one or two footballers to deal with and must make a decision, so we will do so. The process will be to comprehend the truth rather than the hype.

“Then attempt to make a fair conclusion based on values, namely, is he a nice guy or not? Could he play truly for Manchester United, would we and the fans be okay with it?”

Greenwood has only one year left on his Old Trafford contract. He has already stated a desire that his destiny be decided within the next week.

According to the Manchester Evening News on Saturday, Greenwood is not scheduled to return to United training at Carrington tomorrow. Marseille, Lazio, and Getafe are among the six clubs who have been heavily associated with him, with the French and Italian clubs now the only ones to offer a fee.

However, the latter’s president, Angel Torres, has already stated his desire to sign the striker permanently. Speaking to Radio Marca, he stated: “If it is up to the youngster and his parents, he will stay another year. Manchester, as we reported last week, if there is a good offer, they would like to sell. Because he will not return there.

“So we’ll have to wait a month and a half to two months, till the end of June. But it all depends on him and his family. They are quite comfortable and pleased with the fans.

“He had not played for 16 months when he arrived and we have recovered him, he has scored eight goals in the League and two in the Cup and he has given a great performance.”
