LeBron James is reported to have signed a two-year contract worth up to $104 million to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania, as of July 3rd.

The deal is said to include a no-trade clause and a player option for the 2025-2026 season, allowing the 39-year-old James to decide his future after the upcoming season. CNN reached out to the Lakers for confirmation and comment.

This agreement means the four-time NBA champion and his son, Bronny James, recently drafted by the Lakers as the 55th overall pick in the 2024 player draft, will become the first father-son duo in NBA history to play together.

Bronny James signed a 4-year contract with the Lakers worth $7.9 million on Wednesday.

James is widely regarded as one of the two greatest NBA players of all time, alongside Michael Jordan, and became the first player to reach 40,000 career points in the previous season. A four-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), James also tops the all-time scoring list in playoff games with over eight points.

Last season, James became the first player selected to participate in 20 All-Star games, surpassing the record he shared with Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

James averaged 25 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists per game last season.
