Adrien Rabiot has reignited tensions with Kylian Mbappe by criticizing the French captain’s performance ahead of the Euro 2024 semi-final. Mbappe, known as one of the world’s best players, has struggled during this tournament, only scoring one penalty goal so far despite leading France.

Rabiot’s remarks have once again angered Mbappe, as reported by Mirror on July 9. Mbappe, who broke his nose in France’s opening Euro 2024 match against Austria, has found it challenging to maintain top form. This tournament marks his first major competition as captain, succeeding Hugo Lloris after the 2022 World Cup.

Despite these difficulties, France has reached the Euro 2024 semi-finals and will face Spain in the early hours of July 10 for a spot in the final against either England or the Netherlands. Rabiot believes that Mbappe and star forward Antoine Griezmann need to improve their goal-scoring form for France to defeat La Roja.

Rabiot stated, “This is a match about team spirit, and even when they faced some difficulties, we made it to the Euro 2024 semi-finals. Team spirit is crucial, and the team’s victory is more important than individual accomplishments.”

Regarding Griezmann, Rabiot commented, “I think everyone is surprised because we know what Griezmann is capable of. We saw what Griezmann did in the recent World Cup, where he could be in top form.”

Rabiot’s comments risk exacerbating the rift between his family and Mbappe’s parents following France’s disappointing exit from Euro 2020. During that tournament, after France squandered a 3-1 lead against Switzerland, tensions flared between Rabiot’s mother, Veronique, and Mbappe’s father, with both exchanging heated words in the stands.

The incident was widely circulated on social media at the time, with Veronique criticizing Mbappe’s father for his conduct. Despite Rabiot’s attempts to mediate between the two families afterward, Mbappe was reportedly unhappy with Rabiot’s public comments.
