MANCHESTER UNITED have explored adding two English attackers during the summer transfer window.
United are making significant headway in their pursuit of Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee, who could cost up to €40 million (£38 million).
However, Zirkzee is the type of attacker who prefers to cover broad areas, so the Red Devils will also want a true centre-forward.
According to The Athletic, the Manchester giants are interested in Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Both forwards have one year remaining on their contracts and have stated that they would not be renewing anytime soon.
The Bees are said to value Toney, 28, at £60 million, but the price might be reduced to £40 million to prevent losing their best player for free next year.
And, given the Toffees’ financial woes, they are willing to move Calvert-Lewin, 27, this summer regardless of his contract situation.
For their star player, a contract worth approximately £30 million is considered possible.
Of course, this type of transfer business would necessitate some more sales from United.
Internal discussions about Toney and Calvert-Lewin have taken place at Old Trafford.
The Everton star’s injury record has also been considered by United’s management.
However, DCL appeared in 38 games last season and played 18 minutes more than Rasmus Hojlund in the Premier League overall.
The striker also had eight goals and three assists in all competitions.
