While Manchester United pursues Champions League football on the field, Adidas and the club have paused to reflect on a historic period, specifically the 1988-1990 era. They’ve collaborated to revisit the attire worn by passionate fans during away games of that iconic time.

Building on the success of last year’s collection centered around the 1990/92 era, Adidas and Manchester United have introduced the new Man Utd x Originals Collection. This latest capsule celebrates the inception of terrace culture’s golden age, drawing inspiration from popular pieces in Adidas’ archive reimagined for today’s football culture. It aims to evoke nostalgia and capture the unwavering devotion of fans who journeyed to support the team during the influential seasons from 1988 to 1990.

The collection comprises nine pieces, featuring refreshed versions of beloved heritage items alongside commemorative apparel such as hoodies, t-shirts, and a bench jacket. A standout item is the Man Utd x Originals Third jersey, paying homage to the legendary kit of that era. It boasts an engineered “MUFC” jacquard fabric and a meticulously crafted ribbed collar with red and black accents. True to the original design, iconic elements like the adidas Trefoil logo, the club’s crest, and sponsor logos of the time are embossed in soft textured material on the jersey’s core fabric. The accompanying shorts, detailed with ‘MUFC’ script, replicate the look and feel of those worn decades ago in a woven fabric.

Additionally, the collection features the Man Utd x Bench Jacket, inspired by the manager’s touchline attire but reimagined as a modern winter jacket. There’s also a reinterpretation of the off-pitch hoodie donned by players, showcasing a bold red, white, and black color scheme as a nod to its predecessors.
