Man Utd’s new recruit, Leny Yoro, made an impactful debut in a 2-0 friendly victory over Rangers on July 20. The 18-year-old French talent, recently signed for a hefty €62 million, was promptly included in Erik Ten Hag’s starting lineup at Murrayfield, Scotland.
Yoro wasted no time impressing, displaying maturity in defense alongside Jonny Evans and showing prowess in initiating attacks from the back, an area Man Utd struggled with last season. Notably, Jadon Sancho, who had reconciled with Ten Hag after a tumultuous period, also featured prominently.
“After the match, I couldn’t believe it,” Sancho remarked to MUTV. “The team played incredibly well. I’m satisfied with my performance and optimistic about our future.”
Amad’s first-half goal and Joe Hugill’s second-half strike secured the win for Man Utd, marking their first victory of the preseason preparations. Looking ahead, the team travels to the United States for more friendlies, including a clash with Arsenal on July 28. Coach Ten Hag expressed delight with the signings of Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, with Yoro already training with the team while Zirkzee recuperates post-Euro 2024 with the Netherlands.
