Bruno Fernandes has emerged as a top target for PSG this summer while Manchester United remains uncertain about the future of their captain.

Fernandes sent a final warning to Manchester United about his future amid interest from Paris St Germain. The Portuguese midfielder arrived at Old Trafford in January 2021 and has since become a cornerstone of the club.

At the start of last season, Fernandes was entrusted with the captain’s armband by coach Erik ten Hag. However, it coincided with one of Manchester United’s most forgettable Premier League campaigns.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ordered a complete overhaul of the club, with Fernandes not guaranteed a future at Old Trafford. Against this backdrop, PSG’s interest in the Portuguese international is growing. Two months ago, Fernandes outlined what Manchester United needed to do to keep him at the club: “I will stay here as long as the club needs me. This feeling shows that the club still considers me part of their future plans. Therefore, I will strive not to become someone the club no longer needs.”

“A player must do what is best for the team, and I am no different just because I wear the captain’s armband. I always try my best because I know my teammates are doing the same. We always strive to do the best for the club.”

“And no one hides that we play for a big club and we must raise our standards in every game,” said the Manchester United captain.

So, how will Manchester United and Fernandes respond to an offer from PSG? According to L’Equipe, the French giants highly value Fernandes’ talent as they seek to replace Kylian Mbappe.

Previously, the Portuguese midfielder had been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, although interest from Al-Nassr did not materialize. However, with PSG currently interested, coach Luis Enrique fully supports the acquisition of Fernandes. Negotiations are expected to intensify between the two clubs regarding Fernandes’ future. Of course, Ten Hag always wants Fernandes to remain committed to Old Trafford.

“No, absolutely, the club wants to keep Bruno Fernandes. I have to review the interview, maybe it’s about how it was interpreted, but from everything I know about him, he loves Manchester United and wants to play for the club. He always gives his all and is a role model, even when injured,” said Ten Hag when Fernandes hinted about his future.

The next move from PSG remains to be seen, but Manchester United needs to consider Fernandes’ future carefully and promptly.
