Mainoo became a first-team regular at Man Utd last season, starting 21 Premier League games in a row from December until the end of the campaign.

He played 32 games in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Mainoo then went to the Euros and became Gareth Southgate’s trusted No8 after failed experiments with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Gallagher.

The Man Utd man started each of England’s knockout stage games and now has nine caps for his country.
